Engineering the Scale-up of Quantum Systems: From Devices to Machines

Individual quantum systems have recently advanced to a level where it now makes sense to think about scaling them up into complex, multicomponent, quantum machines. Realising such machinery in the next decade will require a multidisciplinary approach to research, blending physics and engineering, as well as the training of a new generation of technologist, the quantum engineer. This talk will outline some of the challenges in moving from quantum devices to machines and present work underway to advance the frontier of quantum engineering.
