I am a theorist who studies condensed matter systems that are far from thermal equilibrium. A major focus of my research is to develop quantum processing devices in silicon and in silicon/germanium heterostructures, focusing on novel architectures and designs that enable high-fidelity operation even in the presence of decoherence from the environment. I have also worked on a broad range of systems for which dynamical concepts and methods yield new insight, including glasses, granular materials, biomaterials, and magnetic flux lattices in type-II superconductors.
